What do run-over chickens in Bled and Queen Maria of Yugoslavia have in common? Why did a statue with a bare breast cause such controversy in Ljubljana? Questions like these are where my storytelling begins. I love engaging travellers with the small, surprising facts about a place and turning them into memorable stories.
I'm deeply passionate about my home — a city called Ljubljana and a country called sLOVEnia. I've held a Slovenian national tourist guide licence since 2005 and have worked with international visitors since 2011. Since 2018 I've also led multi-day journeys through Slovenia and the wider region as a travel director, working especially with travellers from Australia and North America.
Guiding has taught me that every guest is different. Some want more history; others are curious about everyday life, politics, food, architecture — or what it was like to grow up in a country that no longer exists (I adore the history of Yugoslavia). I adapt the pace and the conversation to the person in front of me.
I'm honoured to be joining the Faculty of Tourism as a Lecturer, where I'll be sharing what the road has taught me with the next generation of tourism professionals.
